Doomsday: Iran

Doomsday: Iran explores the key factors behind the Iranian leadership's aims and suicidal mindset, and unwraps the dire threat of its nuclear program.

It also explains why (since coming to power in 1979) the theocracy has focused on gaining influence over Iraq.  This has nothing to do with concerns based on national security but strictly for the role Baghdad is "destined" to play in setting the stage for the long-awaited return of the Shias' 12th Imam.  His return can only take place when apocalypse and chaos rise to engulf the world.

Author James Zumwalt shares the insight that Iran's mullahs seem to follow a kind of "Hypocritical Oath" where the mullahs "talk the talk" to their flocks but religiously fail to "walk the walk."  Such hypocrisy includes encouraging the kids of followers to don suicide vests (and blow themselves up) while discouraging their own children from doing so.  This is so common it's just routine.
Their glaring hypocrisy also allows females to "enter into marriage" at the age of nine (NINE!) but then asserts that the testimony of two females is worth the testimony of one male in a court of law.  Women are looked down upon as more chattel than independent humans.  They are entirely and without let-up under the thumb of males.  In effect, females have the status of sub-creatures.

A shocking number of these mullahs is proudly corrupt with bank accounts and conspicuous assets they never dreamt of before the return of the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 and the Islamic Revolution.  Most of them rode donkeys to get around and had virtually no money.  In today's Iran many of these mullahs now count among the world's most wealthy men.  Their hypocrisy is stunning.

James Zumwalt lays bare why we can't apply the "Reasonable Man" theory to our dealings with Iran.  We must see these maniacal louts for what they are.
